Copyright Policy

PlanetEast licenses original recordings made by artists we work with directly. We take infringement seriously in both directions: if something on this site infringes your rights, we want to know, and if a claim against one of our artists is wrong, we want to fix that too.

If you believe a work on planeteast.co infringes your copyright, send a Copyright Infringement Notification to copyright@planeteast.co. Read the rest of this page first — a notice missing required information takes far longer to act on.

• Only the copyright owner, or someone authorised to act for them, may file a notification.
• Consider whether the use might be permitted — for example by a licence you or a predecessor granted, or by a statutory exception. Similar-sounding music is not by itself infringement.
• Your name, email address and the substance of your notification will normally be passed to the artist who supplied the work, so they can respond. Do not include information you are not willing to share with them.
• Do not file claims you know to be false. Knowingly false claims can end your account and may carry liability for the costs and damages they cause.

Send the following to copyright@planeteast.co:

• Your full contact details: name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
• Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed — title, release details, and evidence of ownership where you have it.
• Identification of the work on our site that you say infringes it, with enough detail for us to find it: the track page URL, the track title, or the artist name.
• A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement that the information in your notification is accurate, and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
• Your physical or electronic signature.

We acknowledge notifications and, where a claim appears substantiated, may remove or restrict access to the work while we investigate.

If a work you supplied was removed because of a notification and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can file a counter-notification.

• Only the artist who supplied the work, or their authorised representative, may file one.
• File only where the removal really was in error — for instance because you own the recording, or hold a licence covering it.
• Include your contact details, identification of the removed work, a statement of why the removal was mistaken, and your signature.

We forward valid counter-notifications to whoever filed the original claim, and may restore the work if they do not pursue it.

We close the accounts of users and artists who repeatedly infringe the copyright of others. We also close accounts that repeatedly file claims in bad faith.
